Flooring is an important aspect in healthcare and hospital environments, and perhaps most critical in operating rooms. When it was time for the VA Puget Sound Health Care facility in Seattle, WA to update the floors in their operating and X-Ray rooms, we were proud to partner with D Square Construction to create cost-effective flooring offering durability, longevity, and safety.
We chose a seamless flooring system that would stand up to the stringent safety and hygiene requirements of operating rooms. We installed General Polymers SofTop Decorative Flooring, a mortar system that combines flexible epoxy resin with rubber granule aggregate for added ergonomic comfort, and used AquArmor WBU topcoat, a water-based urethane that provides chemical, stain, and slip resistance, and a uniform flat finish. Because these floors are frequently cleaned and subject to harsh chemicals, selecting the right finish was important for our client; a smooth or low-texture finish keeps dust and dirt at bay and ensures cleaning is easy and effective.
Its back-to-school time again, and this year students returning to Explorer Middle School in Everett, Washington will be greeted with brand new locker room floors. The existing floor was well-worn and in need of replacement. Our crew removed the previous epoxy quartz coating, shot blasted the floor, and installed over 3,050 square feet of resinous flooring.
It was important for us to provide a solution that would require little maintenance and withstand the high-traffic endured by locker rooms. Explorer’s gym facilities feature a swimming pool, so our material also needed to be highly chemical and slip resistant. We chose Dur-A-Flex Accelera C seamless flooring system for its non-slip surface, durability, and excellent chemical resistance. Accelera’s low odor and fast cure time proved to be crucial as swim practice continued nearby throughout the installation process.
The first phase of resinous floor installation for a Seattle area seafood processor was recently completed. After years of in-house repairs, they came to us looking for a flooring option that could withstand wet-processing, changes in temperature, and high traffic.
After removing their existing flooring, we installed Dur-A-Flex Poly-Crete SLB with Poly-Crete TF Topcoat, a nonporous floor system designed to withstand the thermal shock and cleaning that is required in food processing facilities. These seamless floors will provide years of traction and durability, and help ensure that our client can continue to provide the high-quality products they are known for.
