About the Job

The Swab Rig Operator works under the direction of the Swab Rig Manager. This individual is part of a crew that is responsible for the maintenance and day-to-day operations of the rig and or equipment.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Perform services on oil and gas wells as part of a rig crew.
  • Watch loading and off-loading items from the truck to the rig.
  • P icking up and laying down lubricator.
  • Responsible for driving Swab Rig to and from well site.
  • Driving a crew truck when necessary.
  • Lifts, removes, installs and operates will head cap, PSI gauges, wee choke systems and preforms other task as designated by the Rig Manager or official company.
  • Positions, lifts, attaches, installs and works with matting boards and weight indicator pads associated with well equipment.
  • Disposal of excess fluid swab from barrels into tank.
  • Tracks hourly and daily production of oil and salt water tank gauges.
  • Reports safety hazards, accidents or maintenance issues to the supervisory rig.
  • Complete required work plans, job safety analysis, observations, and attends safety meetings as required.
  • Participates in the company's Behavior Based Safety and proactive reporting program.
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle and hold a valid driver's license.


  • Previous industry experience preferred.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, both orally and written.
  • Must have basic mechanical and organizational skills, technical knowledge and the ability to solve problem technical issues.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and lift objects of up to 75 pounds for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions in a fast paced and high stress environment.
  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills and the ability to work with current and potential customers, both internal and external.

In addition to this training at our off-site, New Hire Orientation facility, those individuals who have been hired to haul water or oil will receive an additional one-week training at our Training Center.

MBI’s Training Center is located on our own 80-acre tract of land with a facility for classroom training and practical hands-on training, including a full driving course developed to model our work in the field.
