About the Job

The Safety Coordinator (SC) is responsible for ensuring all workers and leaders are in compliance with all safety standards at all times. The Safety Coordinator must be observant, comfortable having direct conversations with all levels of employees, and have the ability to make on-the-spot corrections. The safety coordinator is expected to set the safety standard for all tasks, follow instructions and complete paperwork in a timely manner.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Utilize MS based computer programs to accurately complete documentation
  • Drive company SOR program, properly document SOR cards, and address noted issues
  • Observe work completion to ensure safe work procedures are being followed
  • Utilize Benchmark safety procedures and OSHA standards to ensure on site compliance
  • Make immediate corrections and educate employees on Benchmark safety policies and safe work procedures
  • Promptly inform all project leadership and the Safety Manager in the event of a safety incident
  • Direct communication with employees and/or foreman when something is unsafe
  • Positively encourage employees who are working safely
  • Communicate with project leadership and Safety Manager regarding on-site safety
  • Complete all assigned safety training
  • Participate in Benchmark Safety Committee and create a project specific safety committee as needed
  • Assist in project planning to ensure safety is not a last minute consideration
  • Assist in the coordination of safety training for all employees
  • Maintain safety-based project specific statistics
  • Manage mandatory drug and alcohol testing
  • Conduct on site safety audits
  • Assist in the completion of incident investigations as needed

Qualifications

  • Safeland
  • OSHA 10
  • NFPA 70e
  • Golden Shovel
  • Fall protection for construction
  • Equipment specific safety training
  • High school diploma or equivalent OTJ experience
  • Valid Driver's License
